Book Donations for Book Sale

Donated books are sold at the book sale

The books that are donated by the public are sold at the book sale to raise money for the library. We can only accept donations of books that are in resale condition. Many books that are stored in basements and garages absorb moisture and become yellow and mildewed and cannot be resold. We thank you for donating books that are in resale condition.

Please remember to remove personal items from donated books. We frequently find photos and cards that unfortunately cannot be returned.

How to donate

Just bring your books to the library and put them in the donation bin, which is against the wall in the hallway to the Pearl S. Buck Room.

Please donate

Good condition fiction, non-fiction and graphic novels for adults and children, the newer the better. We also accept audio books on CD.

Please do not donate

  • Anything at all that is not a book: flash cards, games, puzzles, maps, sheet music, calendars, journals
  • Books in poor condition: torn, yellowed, mildewed, annotated, very old books, used coloring books
  • DVDs, CDs, VHS and music cassettes, video games
  • Directories (phone books. etc.)
  • Magazines of any kind
  • Encyclopedias
  • Foreign language books
  • Manuals of any kind, including software and appliances
  • Price guides (stamps, coins, antiques, etc.)
  • Reference books (dictionaries, atlases, thesauruses, etc.) including outdated travel guides
  • Textbooks and text prep books
